American Library Association: Excellent question and answer section about intellectual freedom and censorship.

 

Association of American Publishers: Useful site about the book publishing industry, including industry statistics and articles. AAP also created Bookjobs.com to provide information for students who are interested in working in publishing. It includes publishing company profiles, links to publishing study programs, and a glossary of publishing terms.

 

The Association of Authors' Representatives (AAR): An organization for literary agents. The site includes "Frequently Asked Author Questions."

 

The Authors Guild: A professional association for published writers. The web site contains free content for nonmembers, including contract advice and publishing news.

The Children's Book Council: Trade association for US children's publishers. Great source of information about children's publishers and their submission policies.

National Coalition Against Censorship: A thorough site on current censorship issues.

National Writers Union: Includes some information for nonmembers, including Freelancer Protection Act and grievance and contract info.

 

Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators: An international organization for writers and illustrators of children's books. For members, provides conferences, newsletters, and other support. General articles about children's publishing are available for nonmembers at www.scbwi.org/pubs.htm.
